In the bachelor minor subject Comparative Culture and Religion Studies a total of 60 credit points has to be acquired. Out of these, 12 credit points should be acquired from first to fifth semester each.

The program consists of topics and types of classes that are organized into modules. There is only one compulsory module (“Pflichtmodul” P 1) which is valued 12 credit points and should be completed in the first semester. All other modules are compulsory elective modules (“Wahlpflichtmodule” WP 1 to WP 22) which are valued 6 credit points each. Out of those two modules should be completed during each semester staring from the second to the fifth.

These selection rules have to be followed:

  • In P 1 („Einführung in die Disziplinen der Vergleichenden Kultur und Religionswissenschaft“) two out of three courses with 6 credit points each have to be selected.
  • Among WP 1 to WP 4 two modules with 6 credit points each have to be selected.
  • Among WP 5 to WP 9 two modules with 6 credit points each have to be selected.
  • Among WP 10 to WP 18 two modules with 6 credit points each have to be selected.
  • Among WP 19 to WP 22 two modules with 6 credit points each have to be selected.

In addition, the following rules also have to be followed:

  • Students with the bachelor major subjects Social and Cultural Anthropology, Study of Religion or European Ethnology and Cultural Analysis must not take modules or courses from their own major subject discipline.
  • Each module may only be taken once, even if there are more courses being offered within the module.
  • Each course may only be taken once, even if the very course is being offered under more than one module or submodule.
  • With exam registration ("Prüfungsanmeldung"), which takes place during the end of semester, the respective module or submodule is being selected irreversibly. That means that any exam retake has to take place in the very same module or submodule.
  • Modules always have to be completed, but their sequence or semester assignment is not binding.
  • The special exam in P 1 ("Grundlagen- und Orientierungsprüfung" - GOP), which can still be found in the rules and regulations ("Prüfungs- und Studienordnung") of the bachelor minor Comparative Culture and Religion Studies, has been abolished. That means that each and every exam can be retaken any number of times.

In the colored module scheme (PDF, 90 KB) an overview is provided which modules are being offered in which semester and to which discipline they belong.
